This works with keyboards only: Hold down option/Alt key and click an object in the palette on the left, then click on the scene to the right to add the object to the scene. To remove an object, option/Alt click on the object. You can add and remove multiple objects.

Now, simple click on the small squares inside the top two objects, when displayed in the scene, to see what happens.

The bottom object in the palette is different. Place two or more of these on the scene. Then option/Alt click on a blue circle (output) in one of the objects, then click on a yellow square (input) in another of these objects. Option/Alt click on that yellow square to see what happens.
